September is a busy event month for us at the Coop. We love supporting local events and try to do as many as we can handle. We thought we’d share some of the public events happening in our community and hope to see some of our wonderful members there!
Rodale 7th Annual Organic Apple Festival
Kutztown, PA. September 19, 2015 10:00am – 4:00pm
Fall is the season for picking apples! Rodale Institute is offering the option for families to pick their own apples in their organic orchard. The farm boasts many varieties, including some that are not commercially available! They expect to have organic Liberty and Empire apples in addition to a few unnamed varieties. All varieties are perfect for eating fresh, baking, and preserving. Rodale will provide the baskets (free to use in the orchard or purchase to keep), apple pickers, and carts. Apples are first come, first serve. There will also be plenty of delicious organic treats, live music, and activities for children. Parking and Festival are right on the farm. LFFC will be attending this event, selling organic produce and promoting the new Bethlehem CSA sites!
Lancaster, PA. September 16 – September 19 8am-12pm
The Lancaster WeeUsables Consignment Event is a 4 day consignment event running Sept 16-19th at the Lancaster Host Resort & Conference Center – Expo Center. 750 local parents & grandparents will be selling 150,000 new and gently-loved items for moms-to-be, babies and kids, including clothes, toys, books, strollers, baby equipment, shoes, DVDs, bikes and so much more! Lighten Up Lancaster – Get Fit Get Healthy
Lancaster, PA. September 14 7pm – 8pm
There will be activities for adults as well as children, such as Zumba and relays and other activities at innings, as well as various local food businesses, organizations and businesses from Lancaster all geared to showcase their commitment and involvement to healthy living. Children will also receive a food package and healthy food samplings. LFFC will be there giving samples of kiwi berries and connecting with the community.
My Gut Instinct – Guts & Glory
Reading, PA. September 19 11am – 3pm
Join My Gut Instinct for an exciting journey of wellness education, nutritional awareness, health consciousness, and family fun! The first 500 visitors will receive a free Guts & Glory 2015 swag bag! LFFC will be attending this event educating the community on the health benefits of eating in season and organic.
Stop by this FREE admission event and see: Expert lectures on nutrition, fitness & healthy living, live fitness presentations, free health screenings, free tasting samples, healthy food and alcoholic/non-alcoholic drinks for sale, kid-targeted zones on healthy eating and exercise, kids’ inflatable obstacle course, rock climbing wall, massage tent, farmers market, community garden, live local music, live dance demos, holistic experts and stress relief tips, and informational booths!
